Your files never leave your Mac. Lucid Disk reads your disk to measure it, and the results stay on your Mac. This page lists everything it does send, and to whom.
Who we are
“Lucid Disk”, “we” and “us” mean the maker of the Lucid Disk app and this website. For anything about this policy or your data, email hello@luciddisk.com.
What the app does on your Mac
- Reads your disk. With the Full Disk Access you grant, Lucid Disk reads file and folder names, sizes and dates to measure what is using space. It does not read the contents of your files, with one exception: to find duplicates, it compares the contents of files that are exactly the same size, on your Mac.
- Keeps its results locally. Your last scan, a record of each cleanup (so it can be undone) and your licence status are stored in Lucid Disk’s folder inside
~/Library/Application Support. If the app crashes, a crash log is written to~/Library/Logs/Lucid Disk. Nothing in either place is sent anywhere; you can delete it at any time. - Only acts when you tell it to. Nothing is moved unless you select it and confirm.
What the app sends, and to whom
Lucid Disk never sends file names, paths, sizes, scan results or anything else about the contents of your disk. It has no analytics or tracking. It makes three kinds of request:
- Licence activation, to Dodo Payments: your licence key and your Mac’s computer name (as set in System Settings), so you can tell your two activated Macs apart.
- Licence check, to Dodo Payments, when the app starts: your licence key and the activation ID Dodo issued. If your Mac is offline, the app keeps working for 7 days before it needs to check again. Deactivating a Mac sends the same two values.
- Update check, to GitHub, when the app starts: a request for the latest version number. If you choose to install an update, it is downloaded from GitHub.
Like any internet request, these reveal your IP address to the service receiving them. We do not receive or store it. See the privacy policies ofDodo Payments andGitHub.
When you buy
Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record: it collects your name, email address, billing details and payment information, processes the payment, handles tax, and emails you your licence key. We do not see your card details. We can see your order — your email address, what you bought and when — to support you and process refunds.
This website
The site has no analytics and sets no cookies. It is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to operate the service. Its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads. Downloading the app fetches it from GitHub.
If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply and to help you, and keep them for as long as that takes.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@luciddisk.com. For payment records, Dodo Payments is the controller and may need to keep some of them by law. Everything the app keeps is on your Mac, and is removed when you delete it.
Children
Lucid Disk is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If the app ever starts sending anything not listed above, this page will say so first.
